Is solar worth it in your state?
Two things decide it: how much sun a panel sees where you live, and how much each kWh you stop buying is worth. A third — how your utility credits the power you export — decides how much of that saving you actually keep. Here are all 24 states we cover, with the payback a typical $150-a-month bill implies in each.

Is solar worth it in Arizona?
Arizona has some of the best sunshine in the country, so systems produce a lot — but electricity is relatively cheap, which lengthens payback a little.

Is solar worth it in California?
California's high electricity rates make solar savings large, but NEM 3.0 slashed the credit for power you export to the grid — so payback is best if you use most of your solar as you generate it, or pair it with a battery.

DC's standout is its SREC market — solar renewable energy credits here have been among the most valuable in the country, often dramatically shortening payback on top of the energy savings.

The Sunshine State lives up to the name with strong production, and Florida still offers full 1:1 retail net metering, so exported power is credited at full value.
